The HubSpot XML sitemap guide
HubSpot builds your sitemap for you, which is convenient until something is missing from it or Google will not read it. This guide covers how it works and how to fix it.

How the HubSpot sitemap works
HubSpot creates a sitemap for each domain connected to your account and updates it as you publish. It lists your published website pages, landing pages and blog posts. You cannot upload your own file, so what appears depends on your page settings.
Updates are not instant. The sitemap can lag behind a publish, which is one reason new pages are sometimes slow to be found. The technical SEO guide covers the lag in more detail.
How to find your sitemap
Visit yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. Your robots.txt should also list it in a Sitemap: line, which you can check in the robots.txt editor.
How to submit it to Google Search Console
- Open Search Console and pick the property for the domain.
- Go to Sitemaps in the left menu.
- Enter
sitemap.xmland submit. - Check the status says Success and the discovered page count looks right.
Not connected yet? See how to connect Google Search Console to HubSpot. If you serve content from several domains, each one needs its own property and submission.
How to keep a page out of the sitemap
Set the page to not be indexed in its advanced SEO settings. HubSpot then leaves it out. See noindex, canonical tags and redirects in HubSpot. Redirected and unpublished pages are also not listed.
Common sitemap problems
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Page missing from sitemap | Set to noindex, unpublished or redirected | Check page settings and status |
| Could not fetch | Blocked by robots.txt or wrong URL | Open the URL, check it returns 200, resubmit |
| Submitted URL not indexed | Quality, duplicate or canonical issue | See the indexing statuses guide |
| Wrong domain listed | Primary domain set incorrectly | Review domain settings in HubSpot |
| Old URLs still listed | Sitemap refresh lag | Wait for refresh and confirm redirects are in place |

Frequently asked questions
Where is my HubSpot sitemap?
HubSpot generates a sitemap automatically for each connected domain, normally at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. Open it in a browser to see which URLs it lists.
Can I edit the HubSpot sitemap directly?
Not by hand. The sitemap is generated from your published content, so you control it through page settings: a page set to noindex or otherwise excluded will not be listed.
Why does Search Console say my sitemap could not be fetched?
Check the URL opens in a browser, returns a 200 status and is not blocked by robots.txt. Then resubmit it. A new submission can show a pending status for a while before it is processed.
Does being in the sitemap guarantee indexing?
No. A sitemap helps Google discover URLs. Whether it indexes them depends on quality, duplication and technical signals.
Don't wait for the sitemap to be re-read
Submit each page to Google the moment it publishes.
